How a site works
When a site is hostedThis means that its content (files and databases) is stored and distributed by a server. A modern website is generally made up of two parts:
- Site files : Access via FTP. These files include PHP scripts, images, style sheets (CSS), fonts and more.
- MySQL database Contains dynamic site information (users, passwords, articles, etc.).
The web server is usually a LAMP server (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP), which is the basis on which the main CMS such as WordPress websites, Joomlaor Prestashop.
Manage my site and hosting
- FTP connection See the dedicated page on FTP management (coming soon).
- Databases Access your databases via your Plesk control panelunder the heading Databases.
- PHP version Manage the PHP version used by your site by going to the PHP parameters on your Plesk panel.
Setting up a redirect
If you wish to redirect one site to another, this operation will delete all existing content on the site to be redirected. This operation is reserved for owners of dedicated servers, multi-domain servers or reseller formulas. Shared hosting customers should submit a request via support.
Redirection procedure in Plesk
- Access hosting parameters In Plesk, under the domain to be redirected, click on Hosting parameters.
- Change accommodation type Click on Changeselect Redirection (301 recommended).
- Enter destination URL Enter the redirection URL and confirm.
- Confirm data deletion : This operation will delete existing files on this hosting.
Note If the link Change does not appear, this means that sub-domains are present on this hosting.
